Day # 10 The Mini-Moon Vs. The Full-Moon Honeymoon

Let the Honeymoon Period Commence!

The Mini-Moon vs. The Full-Moon, How to budget for the vacation that’s best for you!

Part of the reward for planning your beautiful wedding is getting to the honeymoon. How long? How far? and How much? are great starting points, but an in-depth look at the mini-moon and the full-moon honeymoon trends should make the decisions that much easier.

The Mini-Moon trend is in full swing and is starting to eclipse its larger more expensive cousin. Many couples are deciding to take shorter, less expensive ‘moons and travel agencies are taking notice.  Packages are available for short, local vacations that will be easy on your budget and big on memories. Now there is nothing wrong with wanting to take a cruise, but a mini-moon can be an opportunity to think outside the ship. A spa retreat can be as close around the corner for the afternoon or as far away as the next state for a weekend getaway. Beautiful beaches aren’t just in the Caribbean anymore, look at the Gulf Coast to find sand and sea for miles. Another option is a a great mountain getaway for two, especially in the fall to have an experience that is romantic, scenic and serene. The Mini-Moon has all benefits of the full-moon with less travel logistics and a smaller budget.

Pro-Tip: Travel agents. Honeymoons are a big expenditure. When looking into a major vacation, a professional’s help will give you bang for your buck. They have deals not listed on the internet and working relationships with destinations, hotels and cruise lines. These working relationships transfer to you in upgrades, tricks and helpful tips of the trade to make your honeymoon more relaxing and fun. Don’t forget to check out Breedlove Travel and our other travel vendors to find your professional honeymoon consultant.

The “Full-Moon” Honeymoon (a honeymoon in the traditional sense) has its benefits too. This can be your opportunity to take that adventure you both have always wanted. Your dream honeymoon could consist of sipping cocktails along the Mediterranean, swimming off the coast of New Zealand, or dining by the lights of the Eiffel Tower. If so, I like the way you think and let’s plan as big as you dream. These trips are even cost effective if you incorporate them early in your wedding planning. Travel has never been more accessible and often is more affordable than you think. The biggest tip is plan and budget early. . . and just book it. If you wait and wait, you’ll say, “We don’t really need to go to___,” or, “We could really use the money for the honeymoon on ____.” Those statements are probably completely true, but travel is the greatest gift you can give yourself and it gives you an amazing memory to look back on. Also, don’t think you can’t take the your ‘moon a month or so after the wedding. Scheduling a bit out from the wedding gives you a small recoup time after the craziness of the wedding day. Travel should be fun, fulfilling and centered on you as a team. Take the time to adventure together, you won’t regret it.

Whether you go near or far, honeymoons are really an important part of the wedding process. This is you and your new spouse doing something that invigorates and revitalizes you after the main event, your own personal denouement or resolution. Plan something special for you both, you will deserve and need it.

Let us know where you’re heading for your ‘moon. We look forward to your travel ideas and escapades!
