Outdoor Weddings

Outdoor weddings aren’t a new trend, but they’re a staple for the summer wedding season. There are numerous beautiful outdoor venues for every budget in the Chesapeake Bay region. Check out our blog on unique outdoor venues in the area or explore our venues on our Find a Vendor page!

Another alternative to a classic outdoor wedding is holding a backyard wedding. The wedding could be in your own backyard or a friend or family member’s yard with a scenic backdrop. Backyard weddings are budget-friendly, intimate and personal. Take advantage of the natural beauty of your surroundings while incorporating them on your tables with vases of baby’s breath and eucalyptus or pots of lush shrubbery like pampas grass and topiaries. Florists and caterers can work with you to create arrangements and a menu that compliment your chosen setting!

Beach Waves, Braids and Bold Lips

While wedding hair is usually known for bouncy curls and dramatic sweeps, the new eye-catching trends adding soft elegance are beach waves, braids and floral crowns. Flower crowns have been popular in boho weddings for ages, but now they’re taking a high-fashion stance with added elegance and sophistication. Flower crowns are perfect for the bride, bridesmaids and even the flower girls.

Beach waves, typically a popular feature of picturesque destination weddings, have found a new place at local, homegrown weddings. The natural flow and soft waves of the beachy look are flattering for any length of hair, making it a truly versatile style. Braids are another classic hair trend that are perfect for summer weddings. A single, loose braid with soft face-framing hairs or a headband style braid paired with a loose fishtail braid can both create a stunning look for your special day.

When it comes to summer wedding makeup, a natural makeup look is a mainstay, but now we’re seeing a trend in using a bold and dramatic lip to make natural makeup pop. Some brides are pairing a bold eye, such as heavy winged eyeliner, with a natural look. If you’re going for a red lip, make sure to find a lipstick that compliments your skin’s natural tones.

Bring on the Color

Color isn’t only for bold lips. Couples this year are bringing more color to their weddings with colorful bridesmaids’ dresses and vibrant décor. Colorful suits and tuxedos can make the entire wedding palette pop. Some trending summer looks for the men are pastel blue, ivory, or blush suits with bold accents to tie in with the bridesmaids and floral arrangements.

The use of bold colors mixed with classic shades are creating stunning visual statements. Combine your soft creams, blushes and peaches with vibrant pops of hot pink, reds and oranges. Coral is the new wedding trend color and we are definitely here for it! Living coral may have been 2019’s Pantone Color of the Year but it’s making a huge statement in 2021. It’s a great choice for any bride in search of a fresh and beautiful wedding color palette.

Cadillac or watermelon margaritas are another a colorful drink sure to beat the heat and quench even the pickiest palette.
